Easy Plug and Play Lighting Solutions for Trucks and Trailers
Plug and Play lighting solutions feature a light with wires that are hard-wired and epoxy sealed to the back of the light. These wires are commonly 6 inches in length and end with a PL3 plug, a "pkd" or packard plug, or amp shroud connector. The diagram above shows how to adapt this plug-and-play feature to your existing harness. This feature makes it easier to maintain DOT legal truck and trailer lighting. When you break a light or a light fails, this option allows you to easily replace the existing light. Over-the-road truckers buy replacement lights from convenience stores everyday in order to maintain legal lighting. This option allows a trucker to easily replace the light with the temporary cheap version until he or she can buy a quality replacement. If your harness does not include the matching end of the plug, you can find them in our wiring section. We recommend using heat shrink connectors when fitting a plug with stripped wires to your existing harness. This will give you a watertight connection.
